Volvulus



A volvulus is a bowel obstruction with a loop of bowel whose nose has abnormally twisted on itself.






Types
  1. volvulus neonatorum
  2. volvulus of the small intestine
  3. volvulus of the caecum (cecum), also cecal volvulus
  4. sigmoid colon volvulus (sigmoid volvulus)
  5. volvulus of the transverse colon
  6. volvulus of the splenic flexure, the rarest
  7. gastric volvulus
  8. ileosigmoid knotting
